The purpose of this chapter is to protect the public water system from contamination or pollution due to any existing or potential cross connections as defined in WAC 246-290-010, or as amended, and this chapter. The purveyor shall ensure that cross connections between the distribution system and a customer’s premises are eliminated or protected against by the installation of an approved air gap or approved backflow prevention assembly.
