It shall be the duty of the owner, agent, lessor or occupant of every house or other building, except barns, garages and other buildings which are part of the same property with a numbered house or building, to place on every such building its proper street number either by painting or by affixing such numbers in metal, glass, or other form, in arabic numerals at least three inches high in colors contrasting with the background in such manner and location as to be plainly visible from the public street which serves as the principal means of access to said house or building. The numerals shall be conspicuously placed immediately above, on or at the side of the door serving as the front or principal entrance to the house or building. In the event that numerals affixed to the house or building would not be plainly visible from the public street, then the numerals shall be affixed to a post at the point where the driveway to said house or building intersects with the public street serving as the principal means of access to said house or building. Numbers shall be placed on such houses and buildings within 30 days from the time said owners, agents, lessors or occupants are notified either by mail, publication or telephone of the assignment of numbers to said houses as hereinafter provided. (Ord. 293 § 1, 1981)
