The lawful use of land, premises or buildings existing at the time of the passage of the ordinance codified in this title, although the use does not conform to the provisions thereof, may be continued, but if such nonconforming use is discontinued, any further use of said premises shall comply with the provisions of this title; provided, that no nonconforming use may be expanded except to meet applicable building and fire code standards in the normal course of repair.
