(1) The mayor, upon recommendation of the chief, may appoint a fire marshal, administrative specialist, and other noncommand special officers as the council may establish by ordinance. The special officers need not be members.

(2) The chief shall determine the duties of the special officers. The duties of the special officers shall not conflict or interfere with those of the department officers. (Ord. 548 § 3, 2012)
